The University is in the running for Best University Careers/Employability Service Award in the National Undergraduate Employability Awards 2015.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced at a ceremony in London on Friday, 6 February 2015.

Simon Brandwood, Head of Employability and Enterprise at the University, said: “Everyone within Careers, Enterprise and The Workplace at the University is absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award. It really is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff to provide a high quality careers and advice service for our students.

“We’re extremely proud that 94% of our 2013 graduates are in employment or further study six months after leaving us.

“In a competitive jobs market, having reliable and honest expert advice is a valuable tool for any student hoping to secure employment. In addition, we’re committed to ensuring our students have access to opportunities to gain work experience through internships, placement and volunteering alongside their studies which helps them stand out among the crowd.”

The University has a Careers Centre, to help students investigate their careers options, develop the important skills they need to make their career plans happen and provide assistance with applying for jobs.

The Enterprise department is a central hub for students, graduates and staff of the University for a range of activities that enhance enterprise skills and inspire business start-ups.

In addition, the Workplace offers a range of services for students and graduates such as advertising part-time jobs, on-campus opportunities, placements and volunteering, as well as graduate jobs and internships, international placements and advice about starting a business.

The sixth National Undergraduate Employability Awards (previously known as The National Placement & Internship Awards) celebrate and reward organisations, universities and students who contribute excellence in undergraduate employability across the UK.
