Conference accommodation at a University of Wolverhampton campus has been given a top rating by the national tourist board, confirming the high standard of facilities.Telford bedroom

Visit England recently inspected the Telford Innovation Campus and awarded the University a high three star rating.

The ‘quality in tourism assessment rating’ follows the inspection of 270 ensuite bedrooms and public areas at the campus.

The inspection looked at aspects such as the quality of the rooms, cleanliness, the quality of furniture and information provision in the rooms.

In addition it also looked at public areas such as the reception, dining facilities and lounge space and access to the car park. The quality of the enquiry service, such as web content and literature available before and during a visit, was also assessed.

Louise Callaghan, Conference Sales and Marketing Manager, said: “This is great news for the Telford Innovation Campus and is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff members.

“We have re-invested in former student accommodation with a view to attracting the conference and bed and breakfast markets both in the UK and overseas to Telford and the region. We have successfully hosted conferences for Ikea, Royal Air Force, Mathematics Association, CUBO, BACHE and many more.

“Telford is an all year round dedicated conference centre and the teams have over 15 years experience of co-ordinating educational residential programmes both from the UK and internationally.

“Our aim now is to continue providing a high standard of service to our customers and build on this success to achieve a four star rating next time.”

The Conference Centre at the Telford Innovation Campus, in Priorslee, features eight meeting rooms, the largest accommodating up to 176 people.

The campus is also home to Priorslee Lounge and Bar providing social space for evening use for conferences or daytime meetings and networking events.

The Telford Innovation Campus is also home to the University’s engineering courses and facilities, plus business services such as incubation units for start-up companies and specialist projects aimed at supporting small and medium sized enterprises to grow.
