Developmental work and research activity

Mark’s recent research has focussed on the role of practitioner enquiry within collaborative school improvement efforts, including the role of young people and pupils. This interest arises out of his secondment to the National College for School Leadership where he lead the research team of their largest development and research programme, the Network Learning Communities programme. He has had a long-term interest in the use of video within research and has recently been awarded an ESRC grant to explore the use of video with young people in participatory research.

Currently he is looking at developing his teaching of research methods by exploring the issues practitioners face when they try and disseminate the findings from their small scale enquires our action research ‘back at the ranch’. Mark has a long term commitment to social justice and has produced a range of professional development materials for schools.
