The School of Education offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the form of part-time short courses and part-time full programmes that have been tailored to meet the learning needs of education professionals at all working levels. These CPD training courses are useful for education support staff, Continuing Professional Development Coordinators, Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and teaching staff.

The MA Education is a Masters degree programme intended for those with an undergraduate degree and/or a teaching qualification, or significant professional experience who are looking for high quality education CPD to advance their career. It is available in a variety of options so that you can specialise in the most relevant area to you. The Masters in Education programme is made up of 180 credits and has been designed so that you can build your award in three ‘bite-size’ stages: PGCert (60 credits), PGDip (60 Credits), MA (60Credits).

The new Masters degree in Teaching and Learning (MTL) is a three-year, classroom-based Masters degree programme. It is initially being offered to newly qualified teachers in the North West and to new teachers in challenging schools across England. This programme is valuable cpd for teachers and is fully funded by the Government.

The aim of the Doctor of Education programme is to develop new knowledge and original thinking, as well as advanced understanding, skills and professional values in educational practitioners. Our Doctorate in Education is a high-quality form of CPD training that enhances the professional practice and expertise of all participants.

The School of Education offer supervision for PhD research in a range of areas such as special needs and inclusion, leadership and management, practitioner research, professional development, teaching and learning, early years. The Maths Development Programme for Teachers (MDPT) enables teachers without a maths degree or maths initial teacher training (ITT) specialism to teach mathematics more effectively. The course is designed to develop participants' subject and pedagogical knowledge and help them teach maths to learners aged 11-19 with more confidence, expertise and enthusiasm.
The course is free for participants and the TDA will fund supply cover for participating schools.
