Partnership with Indian university fosters a new era of academic partnership

The University of Wolverhampton has officially partnered with a university in India by recently signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster a new era of academic partnership.
The agreement with Bengaluru City University in Karnataka, India, will bring academics and researchers together in a unique knowledge exchange partnership. The MOU signing took place at the University of Wolverhampton’s Springfield Campus in the presence of Professor John Raftery, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, Professor Lingaraja Gandhi, Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru City University, Professor Prashant Pillai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Research and Knowledge Exchange and Dr Subashini Suresh and Dr Suresh Renukappa, academics in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
Professor Prashant Pillai said: “This MoU signifies a firm commitment from both institutions to work hand-in-hand in pursuit of academic excellence, research advancements, knowledge exchange and cultural enrichment.
“By joining forces, our partnership aims to create a robust platform for our PhD students, faculties, and researchers to engage in meaningful cross-cultural experiences, expand their horizons, and address non-trivial global challenges research topics through collaborative efforts.”
Key areas of research collaboration under the MoU include joint research projects, joint research paper publications, joint supervision for PhD programmes, short term programmes, co-creation of bilateral initiatives such as joint research centres, hubs and institutes, start-up incubator programmes, summer school for students, staff and student exchanges and joint courses.
Dr Suresh Renukappa, Senior Lecturer at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “This partnership is not only a significant step forward for the University of Wolverhampton and Bengaluru City University but also a promising gateway to strengthen international research relationships and build bridges between India and United Kingdom. It is firmly believed that by pooling our resources and expertise, we can create a lasting impact in the field of research and beyond.”
Professor Gandhi, Vice-Chancellor of Bengaluru City University said: “I am confident that this partnership will not only enrich the academic and research landscape of our university but also foster lifelong connections and friendships between our faculty members.
