Who we are

The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for, and control the processing of your Personal Data. How We Use Your Data

The University of Wolverhampton will collect and process your Personal Data in relation to it’s partnership working with the National Brownfield Institute (NBI). The NBI is integral to the way land remediation and regeneration is carried out across the Black Country, West Midlands, the UK and beyond. It plays a pivotal part in unlocking industrial land to help tackle the housing shortage in towns and cities.  Your personal data may be used by us for one or more of the following purposes.

Attendance at seminars, workshops or similar events

Legitimate interest of the data controller for evidence required by funders.

Assistance in research

Necessary for a Legal Obligation to which the data controller is a party

Use of Facilities (e.g. Rooms, Labs, visualisation space, digital data capture)

Necessary for a contract between the data subject (as a representative of the business) and the University

Business Assists (e.g.  tailored business support, knowledge transfer)

 

Necessary for a contract between the data subject (as a representative of the business) and the University

Site investigation (e.g. desktop research, site survey using state of the art technology)

All of your personal data is processed in the UK or EEA

Information We Collect

The vast majority of information that we process about you will be provided by you. This will typically be via our website or collected at events. Where applicable we may obtain additional information from your referee or employer where one is required.

Information provided by you will include details such as your full name (including former name or alias), gender and contact details, such as address, email address and telephone number.

The lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is detailed in the table above.

Who We Share Your Personal Data With

Your personal data is only shared when we have a legitimate reason to do so. As such we only share relevant parts of your information with our funder Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council (Accountable Body). Our lawful basis for sharing the information is Legal Obligation that we have with our funders.

We may also share personal details with organisations with enforcement powers such as HMRC or the Police. However, we will only do so if this is required to comply with our legal obligation to disclose information to these bodies.

We will only share the minimum amount of personal data with any of the above and will always do so in accordance with the law.

Retention

Your data will be held securely until the end of the project which is expected by March 2031. We may need to keep the data for an additional 10 years for audit purposes.
