Who we are

The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for, and control the processing of your Personal Data. The Wellbeing Checks Project Purpose

The project aims to help student and staff of the university with their mental and physical health.

The Wellbeing Service aims to help individuals within their work or study setting, without the need to attend a clinical setting. We believe that your health should be monitored even if you appear to be completely healthy.

How We Use Your Data

Data will be collected by University of Wolverhampton Health & Wellbeing Service to better improve the health and wellbeing of students and staff of the university and signpost individuals to the correct services. From this information we will be able to provide individuals with advice (if wanted and necessary) to help implement changes to improve health and wellbeing.

Information We Collect

Throughout the wellbeing checks process If you do consent or opt in, we will let you know how you can opt out in the future. We will not process your personal data for any other purpose other than those stated above without informing you first. 

The vast majority of information that we process about you will be provided by you. This will typically be via our booking form / PAR Q or collected in person during the wellbeing check process (outlined before you attend).

Information gathered / generated during the health assessment will be Physical Measurements (BMI, Muscle Mass, Body Fat, Height, Weight, Bone Mass, Blood Pressure, Resting Metabolism).

Who We Share Your Personal Data With

We may share specific personal details with organisations with enforcement powers or statutory powers such as HMRC, Local Authorities or the Police. However, we will only do so if this is required to comply with our legal obligation to disclose information to these bodies. We will only share the minimum amount of personal data with any of the above and will always do so in accordance with the law.

Retention

Your personal data is retained for the three month duration of the pilot scheme as we will need to refer to it each time you attend the wellbeing check.

Your Rights

As an individual, you have a number of rights available to you including, the right to withdraw your Consent to the processing or use of your personal data at any time. You can withdraw this consent by contacting Olivia.Simpson@wlv.ac.uk or dataprotection@wlv.ac.uk. How to Complain

If you have any queries, concerns or believe that your Personal Data is being handled in a manner which is contrary to statutory requirements, you may wish to contact the University of Wolverhampton’s Data Protection Officer via dataprotection@wlv.ac.uk or complain to the ICO via www.ico.org.uk

Changes to Privacy Notice

If we plan to use personal data for a new purpose, we update our privacy information and communicate the changes to individuals before starting any new processing.

We regularly review our privacy notice and will review it at least annually. This privacy notice was last updated on 27 May 2021.
