Kathleen FabreKathleen Fabre, who recently graduated from the University with a First Class honours degree in BA (Hons) Fine Art, was selected as the recipient of the “Wolverhampton Art Gallery Prize for Fine Art” by a panel of judges from the Gallery.

Kathleen’s prize was awarded in recognition of the work she submitted for the University’s Fine Art Degree Show 2013. Her creation, entitled ‘What the Water Gave Me’, earned her the award and £200 prize money.

Speaking about her success, Kathleen said: "I was delighted to win the award! My artistic aims are to inspire and engage an audience by using the power of conceptual art, and to be awarded this prize made me realise that I achieved my goals with my installation.”

Jane Morrow, Exhibitions Curator at the Wolverhampton Art Gallery and one of the expert judges, said: “Kathleen’s witty sculptures were the stand-out works in a very high calibre degree show.”

Since completing her degree, Kathleen has gone on to earn recognition for her talents in London.

“Over the summer I was selected to be a part of the Debut Contemporary Programme in London for emerging artists, and I will be exhibiting with them at their Notting Hill gallery space for the next six months.

“Needless to say I am very excited about the future and it is my passion for art that will drive me to succeed!”

Speaking about Kathleen, Samir Ceric, the founder and CEO of Debut Contemporary, said: “We are incredibly proud of Fabre's achievements to date and look forward to working with her on many great future successes to come.

“Having recently started working with her, I can see her sheer desire, commitment and dedication to her artistic practice.

“She is incredibly talented and very ambitious in addition to being a lovely person to work with. I only predict a very successful journey in her career."
