CASE STUDY: Start Here Through Clearing: Abbie Martin

13/08/2018

For Abbie Martin, it only took one day at a different university to realise she needed to make a change.

The 19-year-old from Walsall realised she wanted to be near home, and contacted the University of Wolverhampton.

Abbie joined the BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies course in September 2017, missing just one day of the course.

She said: “The experience of Clearing was a lot easier than I thought and everyone I contacted was great. The University of Wolverhampton offered me a place, so I knew as soon as I was released from my other university, I would have a place I could go to.

“The University of Wolverhampton supported me to go from one course to the other and gave me a lot of information so I knew I was in good hands.

“I got all the information I needed about the new course so I was pretty confident joining the University.

“I’m enjoying the course that I’m on and I like all the topics we’re covering. The lecturers and other students are really nice so I’m enjoying my time at the University.

“To anyone considering coming through Clearing this year, I would say keep in good contact with everybody. If you’re doing what I did and are transferring from one university to another make sure both sides know what you’re doing. At Wolverhampton they have Student Services and they have lots of people to give you information.”
