Graduate from Nepal achieves lifelong ambition

22/08/2018

A former University of Wolverhampton student has achieved a lifelong ambition after studying for a Master’s degree.

Saroj Khanal, 28, an International student from Nepal who graduated in 2016, has set up a gastropub in his home town, Kathmandu, after studying for a postgraduate qualification in International Hospitality.

“6 Strings Restro & Pub” offers food, drinks and live music and is also a venue for parties and local celebrations.

Saroj was initially attracted to the University because of the support services on offer for international students and its international outlook and community.  He also chose to study in Wolverhampton due to its strong focus on graduate employability, high-quality education and research.

He said: “I’d always had a lifelong ambition to own my own pub and restaurant in my own country and after studying for two years in Wolverhampton, where I was offered excellent support services and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, I felt that I was prepared to open and run my own business.

“A combination of work experience and education gave me the knowledge and skills I needed to set up the business in my home country and the venue is proving popular with the local community.

“I really enjoyed studying at the University of Wolverhampton and feel that studying for a degree has really helped me to achieve my ambition.”
