Lamp procession to celebrate student nurses

09/01/2018

Student nurses will celebrate the end of their studies at the University of Wolverhampton with a special lamp procession.

Symbolic Florence Nightingale-style lamps will be carried from the University to St Peter’s Church in Wolverhampton city centre on Thursday, 18 January 2018.

Around 100 students are expected to take part in the event from 6.30pm which is an opportunity for celebration ahead of the student nurses’ graduation ceremonies.

The ceremony will include experiences and stories from some of the students, including a group of Mental Health nursing students who completed a placement in Australia as part of their studies.

There will be readings and songs, and an enamel University badge will be presented to all students.

Family and friends are also invited to attend.

BSc (Hons) Mental Health nursing student Holly Williams said: “This event gives students the chance to unite and celebrate successfully achieving their nursing degree. Whilst in the company of friends, family and University staff, this will be a celebration for all.”

It is the sixth time the event has been held by the University.
