University and education trust announces new partnership

The University of Wolverhampton has signed a new partnership with one of the largest providers of school improvement service in the country.
The University and Entrust are now working together to help support teachers and teaching staff in Staffordshire.
The University’s Institute of Education will accredit a range of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses to Master’s Level.
Initial courses will focus on Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Early Years and Curriculum Support.
Participants in the courses can gain Master’s credits and then progress onto a full Master’s programme if they choose.
The deal was agreed at an event at Entrust’s Riverway Centre in Stafford.
Dr Will Foster, Dean of Staffordshire at the University, said: “We’re delighted to be working with one of the biggest providers of school support services in the country.
“This partnership will allow us to develop a range of courses with Entrust and help upskill and improve potential for teaching staff across the county.
“This is just another example of the work the University is carrying out in Staffordshire with key partners.”
Sharon Kelly, Entrust’s Director Education Services, said: “Entrust is excited and proud to be working in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton to deliver accredited training courses. Development of the workforce is key to improving the outcomes for our children and young people and together Entrust and the University can ensure this is done in the best possible way.”
Councillor Philip White, Cabinet Support Member for Learning and Employability at Staffordshire County Council said: “University of Wolverhampton and Entrust are two key partners and we are delighted to see them working together to deliver CPD and teacher training in Stafford. I look forward to seeing how the relationship between the two partners develops over the coming years.”
The University recently launched The Staffordshire Skills Deal with Staffordshire County Council to support economic growth in Staffordshire by helping to provide the necessary skills for higher value jobs and responding to business need.
It has also opened its new University of Wolverhampton in Stafford Centre in the centre of the town at the Staffordshire Place complex. It delivers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate distance learning courses as well as continuous professional development, short and taster courses.
