It was ‘Tito Time’ at the University of Wolverhampton as the Motown musical legend Tito Jackson declared his love for the city during a whistle-stop visit on Friday morning.

Tito, brother of Michael and a member of the world-famous band “The Jacksons”, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ to Wolverhampton at the moment having first visited to take in Wolves’ win against Bristol City last September.

He has a link to Wolverhampton through a member of his management team Lawson Slater, who lives in the city, and, having become a keen follower of Wolves, it was very much a case of ‘I’ll be There’ following the team’s recent promotion to the Premier League and planned promotion parade and party at West Park on Monday.

For Digital Print Services (DPS) at the University, it is ‘I Want You Back’, as Lawson is a long-term client of theirs and they are regularly called upon to print various items of Jacksons’ merchandise for their worldwide tours.

Tito popped into the facility to pick up an order of flyers advertising a free download of ‘We Made It’, from his album ‘Tito Time’, a song he has penned about Wolves’ promotion season which will be available for free on Monday, co-inciding with the team’s parade and party in West Park.

Tito says: “I first came to Wolverhampton to catch up with Lawson and I fell in love with the city and just keep coming back.

“It was great that Wolves were promoted and it just so happens that the party in the park on Monday is on the same day as I am releasing a track from my album – ‘We Made It’ – which is about the accomplishments Wolves have achieved this season.

“It was great to come and meet the people at the University, they do the printing for all of the Jackson family and they do a very good job for us.

“I just love Wolverhampton and have been here more over the last eight months than I have in my home town in California.

“The city is beautiful and the people are beautiful and so warm in the love they have shown to me and my family since the beginning of time.”

Gae Forbes, Head of DPS, said it was a pleasure to welcome Tito to the department to meet the staff.

“Tito and Lawson came in to collect some leaflets we have printed for them in connection with Wolves’ open top bus tour and promotion celebration on Monday,” said Gae.

“We have been working with Lawson for several years and print a lot of promotional material for the Jackson tours such as posters and handouts.

“It is a really good opportunity for us because it is exciting work and gives us the chance to show the quality and range of printing we can produce.”

DPS is the on-site digital print unit for the University, offering a comprehensive range of high quality graphic design, digital print and print finishing services at competitive prices both for staff and students and also external customers.
