The University of Wolverhampton has joined forces with Worcester Warriors RFC to sponsor its Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence team.

The University is sponsoring the under-18s Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) team’s kit for the 2018-19 season.

Warriors’ AASE recently announced their new partnership with Stourport High School, and this will enable pupils to find out more about higher education via visits from University of Wolverhampton staff and taster sessions at the University.

The partnership will also benefit current students at the University who will be able to access work experience placements at the club. These will include a range of roles such as rugby coaching, strength and conditioning coaching, sports physiotherapy and sports data analysis.

The team’s new kit was unveiled on Wednesday 5 September, 2018, before Stourport High’s opening game against Oaklands College (Saracens AASE) at Sixways.

Paul Bywater, UK Recruitment Manager at the University, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for the University of Wolverhampton, Worcester Warriors RFC and Stourport High School to develop the sports and academic careers of students. The partnership will enable us to offer first class work experience opportunities for current University students at the rugby club, but also for the rugby players and the wider school community to find out more about higher education through University taster experiences which will help students to explore their career options.”

Worcester Warriors AASE Manager, Ryan Watkins, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce that the University of Wolverhampton will be sponsoring the Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme this year. We are building a great relationship with them and it offers both parties the opportunity to provide some great learning experiences for their players and students across the board.”
