President Roosevelt’s thinking on air power during World War II will be the focus of a public lecture at the University of Wolverhampton.

The event on Thursday, 27 June 2019 at 6.30pm is run in partnership with the RAF Museum.

Dr Graham Cross will consider President Franklin D Roosevelt’s thinking on air power in the transatlantic context at the event in room MC001 at the University’s Wolverhampton City Campus.

Professor of Military History John Buckley, from the University of Wolverhampton, said: “This is the latest in our series of RAF Museum Trenchard Lectures in Air Power Studies and we’re delighted to be welcoming Dr Graham Cross from Manchester Metropolitan University.

“Many historians view Franklin Roosevelt’s conception of military air power as lacking sophistication and depth, but this lecture argues the American President of the day did have a long-standing appreciation of the utility of air power as a diplomatic tool.”

The speaker, Dr Graham Cross completed his PhD at Cambridge in 2011 looking at the pre-presidential foreign policy thinking of Franklin D. Roosevelt and is author of “The Diplomatic Education of Franklin D. Roosevelt” published by Palgrave MacMillan in 2012.

This lecture is free of charge but people can book a ticket here: https://royalairforcemuseum.digitickets.co.uk/tickets?branches.branchID=413

The Trenchard Lectures in Air Power Studies are held in conjunction with the Royal Aeronautical Society and the War Studies Department at the University of Wolverhampton.
