Award winning comedian brings stand-up performance to University

As part of Black History Month, comedy writer and performer, Sajeela Kershi, will be performing at the University of Wolverhampton.

Sajeela Kershi is a multi-award winning comedian and writer working in the UK and internationally, including shows in the USA, Prague and Montreal Just for Laughs festival. She performs extensively across the UK festival calendar including; Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester, Manchester, Buxton and Brighton.

Sajeela will give a talk and perform her FREE comedy show 'Owning Your Own Narrative' at 3.00 pm until 4.00 pm on Thursday 31st October 2019 in the Chancellor's Hall at the University's City Campus during Funny Things 2019 - Wolverhampton Comedy Festival.

Josiane Boutonnet, Senior Lecturer in English Language in the University's School of Humanities, said: "It's really wonderful to be welcoming Sajeela to the University during Black History Month".

"From her arrival as an immigrant to overcoming the trials and tribulations facing an intersectional woman, Sajeela is an inspirational woman who has overcome the odds and who tells an inspiring and funny story."

The performance will conclude with a Question & Answer session aimed at opening up a discussion on hopes fears and obstacles facing new graduates and how best to overcome them.
