University books a place at Birmingham Literature Festival

The University of Wolverhampton is hosting three exciting events at, and in collaboration with, the Birmingham Literature Festival.

The Birmingham Literature Festival is a leading festival in the Midlands showcasing writers, speakers, activists and artists from the UK and across the world which runs from 3rd until 13th October 2019.

The University's Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research (CTTR) has organised these three free events which take place on Saturday 12th October 2019.

"Redefining the Classics", led by University Course Leader in English, Dr Aidan Byrne, will showcase the School of Humanities' research for a collaboration on the BBC's 'Novels That Shaped Our World' engagement programme and guests will be able to take part in a pilot study testing a number of surveys for the project.

The University is also revisiting its successful Snidge Scrumpin smell-memory experiments at an event promoting an interactive multi-sensory walk called 'Unscene' taking place in the Black Country in November - one of this year's Being Human Festival events.

Both of these events will take place at the Birmingham and Midland Institute.

The English Degree course team has sponsored an event with writer Sarah Perry, one of the UK's most celebrated novelists whose second novel The Essex Serpent was a Sunday Times bestseller and Waterstones Book Of the Year 2016. She has recently published a new novel called Melmoth.  This event will take place at The STUDIO at the Birmingham REP Theatre.

Booking is essential for all three events.

Anyone interested in studying English or Creative Writing in the School of Humanities at the University should register for the next Open Day on Saturday 12th October 2019.
