Canvas Browser Update

31/07/2019

You might find that the internet browser used to open Canvas has changed from Internet Explorer 11 to Google Chrome. Canvas should look the same as before, but there are some changes you might have to make to your browser to make sure that your online experience is the same.

If it is your first time accessing Canvas via Chrome, you may be prompted to set up your preferences using the on-screen prompts. If you have any questions about these, please contact our IT Service Desk (itsupport@wlv.ac.uk or ext.2000) who will be happy to help.

You might also need to move any bookmarks over to Chrome from Internet Explorer. We have outlined how to do this in the steps below:

  1. Once you have opened Chrome, select the More option in the top right hand corner (three vertical dots)
  2. Select Bookmarks then select Import Bookmarks and Settings
  3. Select Internet Explorer from the list
  4. Click Import
  5. Click Finished

Any browser extensions you were using in Internet Explorer won’t move across to Chrome, so you may have to re-download these.

If you are using a personal device, we recommend using Chrome as your default browser to access Canvas.

If you have any questions then please get in touch with our IT Service Desk (itsupport@wlv.ac.uk or ext.2000) who will be happy to help.
