Further building improvements are planned to ensure a greater experience for staff and students using these facilities for the new academic year.

Students are advised that the building will be closed from Friday, June 8th until the end of August.

The work will begin next Monday, June 11th, when contingency plans will be in operation to minimise the disruption.

There will be strictly no admittance to the Lord Swraj Paul building until the work is completed.

The bridge between the Arthur Storer Building (MN) and the Lord Swraj Paul Building (MU) will remain open but locked at the Lord Swraj Paul end.

Signage, posters and the University’s digital screens will all carry information relating to the closure and alternative arrangements.

Contingency plans that will be in place include:

  • The Faculty Student Support Services will move to the reception area of the Mary Seacole Building (Room MH029).
  • Faculty Student Records Team is to move to room MH017a in the Mary Seacole Building.
  • PhD Students and Visiting Lecturers will have desk availability via hot-desking in room MH011.
  • In addition there will be dedicated PhD Student desk space within the Harrison Learning Centre.
  • Signage will be in place at the entrances to the building advising of alternative arrangements.
  • Signage will also include accessible routes for staff and students whilst work is being undertaken, from the courtyard at the back of the building, via Stafford Street.
  • Advisory messages will be shown on the digital screens elsewhere across the City Campus.
  • No open day activity will take place within Lord Swraj Paul Building. The Faculty of Social Sciences will be based in the Harrison Learning Centre within the Ambika Paul Building (MD) for both the June 16 and August 18 events.
  • Any students re-sitting their exams which would normally take place in the Lord Swraj Paul Building (MU) will receive notification of their alternative venue.

Click MU Building Sign 1 to view access from the Molineux Street Entrance, MU Building Sign 2 for access from the Courtyard and MU Building Sign 3 for the accessible route.

Students are thanked for their co-operation and understanding during the period of the closure, which will lead to an improved learning experience from September onwards.
