Medical course on offer from University partnership

A combined pathway course for biomedical students has been created by the University of Wolverhampton in partnership with a healthcare institution in the Caribbean.

The course is being offered by the University in collaboration with the University of Health Sciences in Antigua (UHSA), and will enable new students to be accepted to both institutions through a single admission process.

Students will firstly study either the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science course or the BMed Sci (Hons) Medical Science course at the University of Wolverhampton, with both courses involving study periods at the UHSA campus in Antigua during the summers.

They will then spend three years in Antigua, completing various modules which will enable them to pass the curriculum requirements needed to earn a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from UHSA.

Speaking about the partnership, Professor Ndy Ekere, Dean of the University of Wolverhampton’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, said: “The University of Wolverhampton is a global provider of education and we’re delighted to offer this pathway course in partnership with UHSA.

“We are committed to assisting our students become valuable assets to the healthcare profession and we see this course as a firm example of this commitment.”

Awarding of the M.D. degree is contingent upon successful completion of the Biomedical Sciences/BMedSci undergraduate courses and the Medical School curriculum requirements.
