Top business course now available online

18/09/2013

The Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is one of two qualifications being offered as distance-learning courses. The MBA is internationally recognised and is often required for executive and senior management positions.

The distance learning format enables students to study for a degree from home or abroad, without ever having to visit the campus – except to attend their graduation ceremony. It is the ideal format for people who wish to study whilst working but cannot always attend traditional classes due to work or family commitments.

Instead, students are directed to audio presentations, videos, reading materials and tasks, which they can access at a time to suit them and they are encouraged to discuss content with students and tutors via online forums and video conferencing.

In addition to the MBA, the Business School has also launched the undergraduate BA (Hons) in Business Management in distance learning format. Both courses are available to study full-time and part-time at the Wolverhampton Campus.

Jenny Brown, Associate Dean for Postgraduate and Professional courses, said: “This is an exciting and new direction for the Business School.

“The University has successfully operated an MBA course for many years, initially based around classroom study and blended learning out-of-classrooms activities. This on-line distance learning MBA provides greater flexibility to study alongside other commitments.

“Though participants may not actually meet in person, they will share ideas and feedback online and will also have the chance to discuss issues with tutors through individual and group sessions.”

The MBA is a two-year, part-time course starting in October and costs £4,505 per year.

The BA in Business Management is a five- or six-year part-time course starting in September, costing from £2,575 a year (dependant on the number of modules taken). For applicants with existing qualifications such as HND Business may be eligible for exemptions, reducing the time to complete the award.
