University offering free workshops for businesses

17/09/2013

The workshops, to be held on Wednesday 25 September at the Wolverhampton Science Park, have been developed by Innovation 1st, a University of Wolverhampton project partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Aimed at SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) in the West Midlands region, the free, introductory workshops will explore how the project’s advanced technology could potentially help businesses with reducing their costs and increasing their efficiencies.

Attendees will be able to discuss future opportunities with knowledgeable advisors, as well as enjoying a “hands on” session with the innovative technology on display.

The day is broken up into three different sessions. The first session will be 8am-9:30am, the lunchtime session 12 noon-1:30pm and the final session 4pm-5:30pm.

Each session will begin with a registration period where guests will have the chance to network whilst enjoying the catering on offer.

Speaking about the day, Paul Burrow, Project Manager for Innovation 1st, said: “This is a great opportunity for organisations to come and have a look round the new Visualisation Centre.

“Guests are invited to see our massive Windows 8 touchscreen, which we believe is one of the biggest in the UK, and to discuss with our team the ways in which the Innovation 1st project might be able to help them to introduce new and innovative technology into their businesses.”

Thanks to funding from the ERDF, the Innovation 1st project can also offer businesses two free days of individual support and access to state-of-the-art technology, where they can try out new product ideas, identify a more efficient use of technology, and explore new ways of working such as video conferencing.

To reduce over-crowding around equipment and new technologies, places are limited for the workshops so early registering is recommended to avoid disappointment.
