Nurses to celebrate their profession

08/05/2018

University of Wolverhampton nursing students and staff will be celebrating their profession at a special event.

Friday, 11 May 2018 is International Nurses’ Day which aims to celebrate success and achievements in nursing.

Students will be recounting their experiences of training to become a nurse, including three who were recently shortlisted in the Student Nursing Times Awards.

There will also be a session around men in nursing, featuring insights from four University lecturers.

Students will share poems they have written about nursing, and there will also be expert insights from guests including Professor Ann-Marie Cannaby, Chief Nurse at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

To mark the day, students have also been invited to take part in the Great Nursing Bake Off and make a delicious cake.

Director of the University’s Institute of Health, Sharon Arkell, said: “Our nursing staff and students make a tremendous contribution to health and social care in the West Midlands and beyond. International Nurses’ Day gives us an opportunity to take a moment to really celebrate their success and achievements.”
