Paramedic mentors in the spotlight
Paramedics will discuss the important issues surrounding mentorship of paramedic students in the ambulance service at a special University of Wolverhampton event.
Lecturers, researchers and members of the NHS workforce will attend the event on Wednesday, 20 June 2018.
The 2nd annual Paramedic Mentor Conference will take place at the University’s Walsall Campus from 9am-4.30pm.
The event will be opened by Anthony Marsh, CEO of West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Alex Hopkins, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing.
There will be workshops to explore paramedic mentorship in the modern ambulance service.
Peter Gregory, Head of Allied Health University of Wolverhampton, said: “Mentorship is the cornerstone of paramedic practice education and the value of high quality placement support cannot be over-stated. This conference provides an excellent opportunity for paramedic mentors from around the UK to come together to explore contemporary issues, discuss case studies, and share best practice. If last year’s conference is anything to go by, it will be a lively atmosphere with plenty of debate.”
Speakers at the event will cover issues such as when action plans fail, emotional wellbeing and resilience, personal experiences of being mentored in clinical practice and creating a positive learning environment.
