VIDEO: Men into nursing

21/05/2018

The University of Wolverhampton is keen to encourage more men to consider an interesting, rewarding and challenging career in nursing.

Just 11.4% of registered nurses in the UK are male.

But those that enter the profession are positive about their experiences while training and on placements in hospitals and other settings.

Learning Disability Nursing student Ian Unitt says: "I don't think people see me as a male nurse, I think they see me as a nurse and I take that as a compliment."

In this video, four of our nursing students explain what made them choose to train to be a nurse, what they think the barriers are to more men entering the workforce and what they enjoy about their particular branch of nursing.
