Professor Ruoling Chen visits public health researchers in US and China

Professor Ruoling Chen has successfully visited John Hopkins University, US, during the period of June to August 2019, with sabbatical leave agreement from the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing.

He carried out collaborative research with top world-class scientists from the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health at John Hopkings University. Prof Chen introduced his EU-funded research projects and his population health research group work in Wolverhampton to John Hopkins University. All would like to engage in further collaborations on public health research in future, including examining Health effects of air pollution in older people and mental health in adolescents.

Following visiting John Hopkins University, Prof Ruoling Chen was invited by Wuhan Children’s Hospital (Wuhan Maternal and Child Healthcare Hospital), Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, China for an academic visit in November 2019. He gave a seminar talk about “air pollution and dementia” to staff and postgraduate researchers in the hospital. This has increased the Chinese colleagues’ research interesting in examining impacts of air pollution on health of pregnant women and babies. 

Prof Chen and his research group have recently increased collaborations with public health researchers in China. He plans to create new opportunities for more collaborations on population health research among the UK, USA and China.
