Applicants get results with access to free online maths course

12/08/2020

University of Wolverhampton academics have developed a free online maths course to support students who have applied to go to University in September.

The free course, designed by staff in the University’s School of Mathematics and Computer Science, aims to help students demonstrate maths competence equivalent to GCSE grade 4.

The course includes comprehensive resources, video lectures, practice problems and quizzes to help students prepare for their upcoming studies.

Dr Liam Naughton, Lecturer in the School of Maths & Computer Science, said: “Staff in the School have a demonstrated a record of supporting students in their transition to Higher Education and this course has been designed and developed in-house.

“With the disruption caused by the pandemic, many students may have missed out on the fundamental skills needed to succeed at University so we have designed this course to equip applicants with maths skills equivalent to GCSE grade 4.

“It might even be possible that applicants can use this course to demonstrate maths competency equivalent to GCSE grade 4 for entry requirements which could enable them to start their studies immediately rather than wait until next year.”
