New team fashions a new direction at University

25/06/2020

The University of Wolverhampton has strengthened its course delivery by appointing two new members of staff to its Fashion & Textiles team.

The University of Wolverhampton’s School of Art offers a range of undergraduate and Master’s courses in Fashion and Textiles where students benefit from a mixture of practical, theoretical and research modules.

Sama Norman brings a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to the existing teaching team having previously worked as a senior designer at Reebok’s Headquarters in the USA.  She has also lectured in Fashion at universities in Manchester, Leeds and Huddersfield.

Harriet Jellman has joined the team as a part-time lecturer.  She is an independent fashion designer and a private fashion tutor.  Her focus will be on 3D pattern cutting and design.

Sama said: “Fashion encompasses so many diverse and exciting elements and our aim is to challenge, assist and inspire students.  We also want to encourage them to pursue their own personal journey, and, as lecturers, we will enjoy being part of that creative journey.”

Harriet said: “The university experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be in an environment where you have access to vast resources as well as skilled and passionate staff supporting your journey.

“Students studying with us will get lots of opportunity to embrace their creativity whilst at the same time preparing for the industry and potentially changing their lives.  Time at university is the best investment in life.”

Anyone interested in studying Fashion and Textiles at the University of Wolverhampton can still apply for courses starting in September and October 2020.
