The University of Wolverhampton has secured accreditation for its Civil Engineering degree courses from four leading professional bodies.

The Civil Engineering Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree courses are taught at the University’s £120 million brownfield regeneration project, Springfield Campus, Wolverhampton, in the recently opened School of Architecture and Built Environment.

Courses have been accredited for the next five years by the Institute of Civil Engineers, the Institute of Structural Engineers, the Institute of Highways Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.

Dr Paul Hampton, Interim Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded accreditation for our Civil Engineering courses for the next five years by these world-leading professional bodies.

“Our Construction Super Campus at Springfield is heralding the dawn of a new era in construction and we work closely with industry to ensure that our courses reflect real world learning, ensuring that graduates are equipped with relevant and up-to-date skills when they enter the workplace.

“Our pathways of learning, which include Degree Apprenticeships, offer students opportunities to become Chartered Civil Engineers and practitioners in the global community.

“The Visit Team was impressed with the investment at the new Springfield Campus which offers students excellent teaching and learning facilities and they noted that the School’s commitment to widening participation, inclusion and lifelong learning is commendable. It was also mentioned that monitoring of the Degree Apprenticeship programme was excellent and is working well.”

The new School of Architecture and Built Environment offers specialist teaching and social learning spaces, design studios, specialist labs, multi-disciplinary workshops, lecture theatre, cafe, offices, meeting rooms, ICT rooms and a top floor super studio with double height ceilings.
