The University of Wolverhampton hosted its annual careers fair for nursing students in their final year to explore and secure opportunities after they graduate.

The Nursing Careers Fair offers current students the opportunity to meet local, regional and national employers to discuss employment opportunities and career pathways during and beyond their degree.

Over 200 nursing students packed out the University’s Sports Centre at its Walsall Campus, where the event was held.

Healthcare specialists and businesses included Compton Care, NHS Dudley Group, Shropshire, Telford, and Wrekin Primary Care Training Hub, University Hospitals Birmingham Children’s Services, NHS Midlands Partnership, NHS Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital, The Royal Navy, and many more.

During the event, job interviews were also taking place for students to take up once they qualify.

Emily Kuzemko, who is currently studying Children’s Nursing at the University’s School of Nursing, impressed the panel and was offered a job on the spot.

Emily, 29, from Wolverhampton, said: “I attended the careers fair to discover what job opportunities were on offer, and unexpectedly, I ended up taking part in an interview with NHS Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital, and have now landed my dream job.

“It feels so surreal, but it’s great that I’ve got a goal to focus on and I’m so excited to be joining the team in having the career I’ve always wanted.”

Emily will start her role, as a staff nurse on the Children’s Ward, after she graduates in September.
