Event aims to raise awareness of sustainability for business

The University of Wolverhampton is raising awareness of sustainability in business with a free conference and exhibition to mark Global Recycling Day.

The half day event will be held at the National Brownfield Institute (NBI), Springfield Campus, Wolverhampton on Tuesday 21 March 2023 between 8.30 am and 1.00 pm.

Experts from the University as well as speakers from industry will be talking about business support initiatives and guidance on sustainability with opportunities for delegates to learn and network.

Hajrija Dergic, Senior Lecturer in Marketing in the University’s Business School, said: “In order for us to mark Global Recycling Day, we’ve organised a half day event to bring stakeholders together to discuss sustainability topics and look at initiatives that might be of interest to businesses amid the energy crisis.

“We have a range of speakers coming along including the Service Manager from Green Cities and Circular Economy at City of Wolverhampton, Briar Zenergi, Wintech Engineering and Wolverhampton Homes.

“And our academics from the Environmental Technologies & Resource Efficiency Support Services (EnTRESS) along with our National Brownfield Institute will be offering their expertise and experience in this area, as well as tours of the research centre.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming people to this event on such an important international day. Sustainability is key to driving industry forward and we must all play a part in ensuring that we make a significant contribution to improving our environmental footprint both as education providers and as businesses.”
