The Researchers' Week Gala and Shout Out Event call for nominations!

Call for shout-outs: Nominate yourself or others for shout-outs during the Researchers' Week Gala Event.

On Friday 16th June during Researchers’ Week, The Doctoral College is holding a Gala Event. During this event, they would like to spread a little joy and therefore need your help! The Gala Event will include a section on shout-outs where they will share the things that we are proud of. All nominations for both staff and students would be appreciated. 

To submit your nominations for any University staff and students who you are proud of, please email doctoralcollege@wlv.ac.uk with the information below:

• Your Name:
• Your Email Address
• The email address of the person that you are giving a shout-out about:
• Why you/they deserve a should out.

There are some categories below that you might wish to respond to, but shout-outs for other categories will be gratefully received.

Please encourage your students to nominate themselves or other PGRs in the shout-outs categories:

• Things you have done, and are proud of.
• Things peers have done that they should be proud of.
• Thanks for your support shout-outs.
• Shout-outs to your supervisors.

Please nominate in the shout-out categories for staff below:

• Things that you are proud of.
• Thanks to colleagues.
• Shout-outs to colleagues for something that they should be proud of.
• Shoutouts to your PGR students.

The agenda for the day is as follows; 

• 10 am – 11 am Scoping the right Journal and writing an article.
• In this session we will look at scoping the right journal for your work and what you need to ensure you know about writing a journal article that will be accepted for publication.
• 11 am – 12 pm As the Editors Panel. 
• Understanding journal editing process helps you in navigating the process of writing for peer review. In this session we are joined by three journal editors who will share their advice and the common mistakes that you should avoid. This is a Q&A opportunity so please have your questions ready to ask the Editors.
• 12 pm – 1 pm Preparing a book proposal.
• In this session we will address researching and writing a book proposal. This session will include what to look for when researching a potential publication and publisher, and best practices when writing a book proposal.
• 2 pm – 3.30 pm The Annual Doctoral College Gala
• We will close Researchers’ Week with our annual shout outs. Let us know what you are proud of, what you have done, what you want to say thank you for, and we will give you a shout out.
