Santander Seed Fund: Need financial support to kick-start a successful business/develop a business idea? Win up to £3,500!!

Calling all students and graduates,

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Santander Universities Seed Fund 2024 which will provide a small grant to aspiring University of Wolverhampton entrepreneurs and freelancers.

We recognise that one of the potential barriers to students looking to launch a business is access to funding to help get their idea off the ground. Whether you need to pay for insurance or accountancy costs, networking, or professional memberships, or simply some materials or equipment to kick start your business, all proposals will be considered.

You will need to explain in your application why the grant is needed for your business and how this will make a difference to you and submit a 90 second video.

Who can apply?

• Current students and graduates (from 2021 onwards) of the University of Wolverhampton who have a business idea, freelance venture or a business registered in the last 2 years.
• International students are not eligible to apply due to visa restrictions. However, if you think you may be eligible to register, please contact the Enterprise Department enterprise@wlv.ac.uk
• You don’t need to be a registered business but must be committed to testing and launching your business within six months of application to the fund.
• You will be offered Enterprise SPEED support alongside your grant, and you must be prepared to engage with the support offered.

Please Note:

• Staff employed by the University of Wolverhampton are not eligible to apply (if you are unsure, please email enterprise@wlv.ac.uk)

 How to apply?

• Create and upload a 90 second business pitch video to a video sharing site of your choice.
• Complete the short online application form (link below) including the link to your 90 second video pitch.
• Sit back and wait for the Enterprise team to get in touch – we will contact all applicants once the final nine have been chosen.

How much funding is available?

The fund is a competitive pot of money with awards ranging from £500 to £3,500.

Guidance for applicants

• Please ensure you complete all questions on the application form.
• A full business plan is not required.
• Please ensure your video is no longer than 90 seconds to avoid penalties.

The panel will compromise of the Enterprise Place team, faculty representatives and external stakeholders. They will be looking for a clear and thorough explanation of your business/idea.
