International Conference of Global Health and Epidemiology, 21-25 July 2019
The prestigious International Conference of Global Health and Epidemiology runs at City Campus from 21 - 25 July 2019.
Organised by the Public Health team, Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing, ICGHE 2019 will be an innovative and informative international conference reflecting the direction of global health whilst offering a wide range of diversions to participants of all backgrounds.
Leading academics, scientists, researchers, health topic-related students, professional health workers, clinicians, and other topic-related professionals are welcome to share their knowledge and experiences in the fields of global health and epidemiology research.
Keynotes speakers include:
- Professor Kaarin J. Anstey, Scientia Professor and Director of the UNSW Ageing Futures Institute, and a Senior Principal Research Scientist at NeuRA.
- Professor Shilu Tong, Director of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatics at Shanghai Children’s Medical Center.
- Professor Isla Mackenzie, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Honorary Consultant Physician at the University of Dundee and Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
- Professor Shao Lin, Professor of Department of Environmental Health Sciences and Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics for University at Albany, State University of New York.
- Professor Xiaoming Shi, Epidemiologist and the director in the National Institute of Environmental Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC).
- John Middleton, President of the Faculty of Public Health.
Professor Ruoling Chen, Chair of the Organising Committee, Professor of Public Health and Medical Statistics, and Lead of Global Health and Epidemiology research at the University of Wolverhampton, said: "The world is facing multiple health challenges, including increasing impacts of air pollution, climate change, and antimicrobial resistance. The World Health Organization has set up a new five-year strategic plan – the 13th General Programme of Work – to address these and other health challenges. It highlighted ten health threats for global attention in 2019, of which air pollution/climate change and non-communicable diseases (NCD) are the top two.
"After the successful completion of the International Conference of Global Health and Epidemiology (ICGHE) 2018 at Telford Innovation Campus, we will hold the 2nd ICGHE in Wolverhampton to discuss global health issues, particularly in environmental health and NCD. We have invited eminent professors from Australia, China, UK and USA to deliver keynote speeches in the field.
"The conference provides an opportunity for all people in topic-related areas across the world to meet together to discuss key issues, hear from leading scientists, share experiences from different countries and make wide collaboration priorities for new research in global health."
