CASE STUDY: Start here through Clearing: Latisha Sandhu

04/07/2018

“It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get the results you want or if you feel you’re not on the right course.”

Latisha Sandhu was studying at another university when she realised she didn't really like the course she had chosen and, after taking a year out and doing some casual work with the family business, she decided that she wanted to study for a construction related degree.

Although she had missed the UCAS deadline to apply to transfer to another university, she managed to secure a place on a Quantity Surveying degree course at the University of Wolverhampton by going through the clearing process.

Latisha, 22 from Wolverhampton, said:  “Although it was quite scary going through the Clearing process, I got a lot of support from the University.  The people I spoke to were very calm and put me at ease.

“It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get the results you want or if you feel you’re not on the right course.

“Nobody is going to be looking at those results for the rest of your life. It’s what you do at University that’s going to determine what you do.  Just follow your heart, as cheesy as that sounds,

“When I came here I was very pleasantly surprised, it’s very modern, there are lots of facilities here and the library is amazing.

“I know that there’s a shortage of skills in Quantity Surveying nationally and internationally so my ambition is to work globally as a Quantity Surveyor.”
