The University of Wolverhampton’s Hong Kong Alumni Association has celebrated its 21st anniversary at an annual ceremony.

The successful partnership between City University Hong Kong's School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) and the University of Wolverhampton has been running since the year 2000.

The courses are highly regarded, and their ‘fly-in faculty’ model is a unique framework that enables students to have lectures delivered in English and Chinese, providing students with the knowledge and expertise from two world-class universities.

The alumni association holds regular events throughout the year which each play a key part in personal and professional development for the University’s graduates.

Hundreds of graduates from the University of Wolverhampton attended this extra-special event to mark a magnificent twenty-one years in Hong Kong on December 2.

A graduation ceremony was also held to celebrate three cohorts of students graduating with degrees in construction management and quantity surveying.

Dr Paul Hampton, Head of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Wolverhampton said: “I’m so pleased to be celebrating this fantastic milestone.

“The partnership has remained strong through lots of challenges including Covid-19, and it’s grown from strength to strength.

“We’ve now built in the professional body accreditation, and we’ve got most them, if not all from Hong Kong.

It’s a big enough milestone to reach a decade in a relationship, so to be celebrating a remarkable partnership of twenty-one years – I for one, am extremely proud.”

Anthony Kam, Chairman of the Hong Kong Alumni Association at the University of Wolverhampton said: “This year, we celebrate the milestone of the 21st anniversary of our two almae matres the University of Wolverhampton and City University of Hong Kong.

“One of the major achievements by our dedicated academics is that they are able to provide unparalleled higher education to over three thousand young people who benefit from these programmes.

“I cannot be more honoured to be celebrating twenty-one years and congratulate everyone who has played a part in making this partnership a real success.”

During the celebrations, attendees also received a special virtual message from the University of Wolverhampton’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Geoff Layer to celebrate the anniversary and congratulate them on their achievements.
