Families across Wolverhampton are invited to dive into the exciting world of robotics and artificial intelligence this autumn, thanks to a new series of free, hands-on science events.

The “I, ROBOT…” project, led by the BME Housing Consortium in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton’s STEM Response Team, will run from October to November 2025, bringing interactive exhibitions, workshops, and a final science fair to venues across the city — including the Mander Centre, Wolverhampton Art Centre, and St Chad & St Mark Church.

Designed to spark curiosity and creativity, the programme hopes to engage over 1,000 people, with a special focus on families and young people under 16 from communities often underrepresented in science and technology.

Arun Bector, BME Housing Consortium, said:

“Science is how we explain the universe and the world around us. We want to show people how robots and AI can help us improve our world in a fun, practical and exciting way. Through our hands-on activities and experiments, audiences will learn that science can be more fun than fun!”

Dr Martin Khechara, Associate Professor for Engagement in STEM at the University of Wolverhampton, added:

“Projects like this are vitally important as they break down barriers between the community and academia and help to create inclusive communities across our city.”

The initiative aims to inspire future learning in physics and robotics, while helping local people understand how these technologies are shaping everyday life - from healthcare and manufacturing to future jobs.

The first event kicks off on Saturday 18 October 2025 at 0930 at the Mander Centre, with further dates scheduled across Wolverhampton. All events are hands on so just turn up and have a go!
