This is a fully updated course founded on and replacing our previous and very popular MSc Emergency Planning, Resilience & Response course. These revised courses take a particular focus on our developing field in a changing world and in the repercussions of ongoing and challenging world.  We especially focus on underpinning emergency management frameworks, the challenges of learning lessons, developments in societal resilience, identifying and managing risk and continually strive towards further professionalisation within our field.  The emerging field of Disaster Science, which is starting to provide a much needed identify for emergency management locally and globally, provides a clear cornerstone which provides a solid, if developing, foundation for these courses.

Whilst our main focus is on applying knowledge to UK emergency management and resilience, that knowledge comes from sources worldwide.  We take a complete view of emergency management to further the preparedness, response and recovery arrangements within the UK and so this course, whilst relevant to everyone worldwide, will be of particular interest and use for Emergency Management professionals within the UK, or those aspiring to move into such a role.

Part two of the Manchester Arena was published on the 3rd November 2022 concerning the preparedness and response of each emergency service following the explosion on 22nd May 2017.
